Merry Christmas, and Season’s Greetings

I’ve seen several postings on Facebook this holiday season adamantly opposing using the phrase “Happy Holidays” or “Season’s Greetings”.  These same folks are usually angrily declaring that they are Christians and will from here forth refer to this season as Christmas!  This is usually followed with the phrase of “Put Christ back in Christmas” or “He’s the Reason for the Season.”  Of course then you are told that if you are a Christian you will copy and post to your status.  Doesn’t it seem as though these people who are fervently trying to remind us of the true meaning of Christmas might have lost a little bit of it?

I would like to heartily wish every single one of you reading this post a Very Merry Christmas.  If you do not celebrate Christmas, I doubt my wish offends you.  I believe you take my wish in the spirit in which it was intended as any reasonable person would.

I apologize for not publishing the best posts lately, I’ve been a little distracted getting ready to celebrate with my family.  I hope wherever you are and whatever you are celebrating you have a wonderful, safe time.  I will be taking a few days off to spend with family – hubby, Tink and the extended members of it – and I’m sure I’ll be good and angry and ready to post more ramblings after the holidays.  Until then, Merry Christmas AND Season’s Greetings and thank you so very, very much for taking the time to read my goofy little blog.

Thank you Maxine.com (I very well may be considered one of those dim bulbs!)

    • THANK YOU!! With my distracted mind I could not for the life of me remember who posted about this recently and I wanted to add a link. 🙂 Forgive me for letting that slip this fragile mind. I loved your post.

I’m with you. I try to be respectful of all people. To me, this holiday is a lot of pomp and parade that adds pressure and stress to our already crazy lives. I might be the silly animal lady, but I think nature has the skinny on life. Animals never bother another animal about setting about a task the wrong way or chattering something in the wrong tone. They don’t judge. They just be and let everything else “be”. Let us allow each other to “be” this year, and spread a little joy and happiness wherever we go.

  2. On my FB wall the other day “Bob” commented “Whenever some says Happy Holidays to me I say, it’s CHRISTMAS you liberal f**k.” I responded “Wow, super Christian of you Bob.” I couldn’t help it.
Seven people liked his comment – no one liked mine.

As a middle-aged woman, I don’t care what anyone says; I have no sensitivity regarding the issue. However, the kids I know in their twenties (who I am not FB friends with) are very much reacting to the folks professing to protect the word Christmas.

I think all the “War on Christmas” talk is having a serious backlash effect.
I hope that wasn’t the goal – more discord.

    • The owner of the company I work for is Jewish and he sent out an email today wishing all his employees a Merry Christmas. I responded and wished him a Happy Hanukkah. And neither one of us burst into flames for acknowledging the other’s beliefs – imagine that.

Amen and Merry Christmas to you! I really enjoy your blog.

  5. Merry Christmas in return. No matter what greeting someone gives to me I give them one in return. I gave the roomie’s dog a Hanukkah present today few goodness sake – and he was tickled with his new chew toy. My Mom was a Catholic, my Dad an agnostic, I’m a Druid with Unitarian Universalist leanings. Really, it’s all good. 🙂
